Alas, you seem to have hit on something I haven't actually got in any of my WIPs - yes, I'm surprised too.

So, in honour of Zhao Yunlan, I'm substituting 'lollipop' instead ;)

It’s not a new experience to look up from his work and find a lollipop being waved in his face, nor for Zhao Yunlan to take advantage of Shen Wei’s preoccupation with the papers he’s grading at home to try and weasel answers out of Shen Wei that his beloved doesn’t think he’d get through a more straightforward approach.

I didn't dare choose a more specific word, but I'm angling for a sentence from the Learning fic. :D

... I am actually agog that none of my wips feature that very ordinary word.

So instead, you're getting a substitution of 'hard', and indeed a sentence from the learning fic (timely reminder also that I keep meaning to edit that draft):

“Oh, he was exceedingly hard-working, utterly polite at all times and soaked in everything I taught him like a sponge,” Professor Zhou answers with an uncalled-for amount of relish, entirely ignoring Shen Wei’s narrow-eyed stare.

It really is basically done, I just keep getting side-tracked (first by the necklaces snippet and then by that new Weilan fic that decided to make itself at home in my brain).
